Hi guys, I know I already posted today but I just wanted to post something that's been on my mind for a while. As some of you may or may not know, I originally started this blog to be a bit of everything I liked. Most of the things fell into the beauty category but I also enjoy cooking, crafty/dorky things, and different forms of art like drawing and photography. At the time I didn't know much about blogging at all, I sort of just jumped into it with a very naive mindset I guess you could say. Anyway, I read a post by a fashion/diy blogger I like who mentioned that just because you like something doesn't mean you should or have to write and blog about it. For obvious reasons that really weighed heavy on me. I was trying to do it all just because I liked it but in the end I couldn't keep up with all of it and some things I just wasn't as good writing about. So, I recently changed things around a bit. I revamped my site, changed the tabs, and added some new features to start fresh and really find my niche in this huge beauty blogging world.
So, why am I rambling on about this? Well, here comes some more rambling... A friend of mine had recently started doing posts that weren't related to nails like beauty reviews and she received hardly any response from her usually "chatty" followers. I knew instantly why that made me upset, I started as a beauty blogger, doing reviews and hair stuff with just a few nail posts. I always talked about and tried to continue posts with hair tutorials, makeup looks, and beauty reviews but ultimately nails kind of took over my blog. It was just easier to post about. I didn't need to use a model's hair (in my case my usually unwilling sisters lol) or fail miserably at attempting to take photos of my makeup (why is it so hard for me to take pictures of my makeup?!) all I had to do was do my nails and take a few pictures. Don't get me wrong, I love nails, nail blogs, and anything to do with nails but I'm also doing something that I never wanted to do. I'm turning my entire blog into a nail blog. My newest followers are following my blog because of my nail posts (pretty sure) because many don't even know I do hair posts or makeup posts. And I know it is my fault, I didn't frequently post about those subjects so how were you all supposed to know I enjoyed posting them and wanted to?
Okay, all that rambling has finally brought me to my point. I want you all to know that I'm going to try my hardest to frequently post hair posts (not sure about as frequent makeup posts right now).
Now, I was most nervous about telling you all this because you followed me for my nail posts and I didn't want to take that away. I was talking about it with my mom and she simply told me to do whatever I wanted because it was my blog. I tried to argue that it wasn't that simple but you know what? She is right. Well, we knew that was coming but still, I started this blog to share things that I'm passionate about, what good would it do if I stopped doing that just because I was scared of what you all would think? Of course, I do care what you think but in the end blogging is what makes me happy and if I sacrifice that for you then the content I produce won't be filled with passion and eventually you'll lose interest too.
Okay I know this is long but I just want to reiterate a few things so no one is confused. I will continue doing nail posts because I love it but I will also be posting hair things and maybe a few other beauty related things. I want to know what you all think because I care but like I said, I'm still going to post what I'm passionate about. I just want you all along on the journey!
I hope I didn't confuse you or say anything contradictory. There were a million thought and things I wanted to say so it was a bit hard to stay on track! I love you all and I hope you'll support me in the decision :)
